Whether online or in-person, I enjoy giving a solo reading and participating in group readings. I revise my work by reading it out loud, which strengthens my performance skills. After in-person readings, attentive and open listeners describe my voice as transportive. If your organization provides compensation to authors, I trust you to inform me in the request.

If you are not local to my area, I am happy to visit your class through Zoom or Google hangout and informally talk about my writing, my specialties and/or my identity. If you are local to my area, I am happy to visit your class in person. Please tell me a little about your class in the request. On the subject of queer nature or rural queer lives, I can write and deliver a lecture for your organization. Inquire about my fee in the lecture request.

If you coordinate events for your public library and would like to work with me about a Queer Nature event of any kind, please propose what you have in mind and mention specific dates as well as your audience. If you have queer and trans youth in mind, please mention this.

If you are looking for a panel member related to a topic of my expertise or identity, I am happy to consider participation. Please tell me a little about your panel in your request. If your panel is fascinating, but I’m not the right person, I will tell you.

A lifetime lover of poetry written in all aesthetics, I have an affinity with elements, flora and fauna and a vast personal library, especially on the topic of queer nature poetry. I also follow a carefully considered manuscript review process. The total cost is $500.00, paid in two parts. After receiving your inquiry, I send you an Author Expectations document in which you communicate your expectations for the content of the review as well as your deadline. If, after receiving and reading your review, I determine that I can fulfill your Author Expectations document, I request and you pay $250.00 up front and provide your manuscript. In my review, I always take the approach of describing what the manuscript is attempting to do, and I include additional information according to your Author Expectation documents. Upon receipt of my review, the remaining $250.00 is immediately due.

For authors seeking sensitivity readers regarding depictions of mental illness, queer male experiences, and rural Midwestern people and places, I am available for consultation on the right project with the right author. If I don’t think I’m the right person, I will tell you. Inquire about my rate per page in the request.

If you solicit my work, I am happy to provide it (fiction, nonfiction or poetry). However, due to a busy schedule, I may need significant lead time (6+ months), especially if the solicitation requires the creation of new work. Good writing takes a lot of my time.
